Sandra Godard
I am not a typical triathlete: I started the sport at 48 years of age. I had never competed or participated in organized sport before my first short distance tri at the end of the 2001 season. I had never run or cycled seriously and had had no formal training in any of the three disciplines. And I could not swim a stroke 2 years ago. I am a mom with three busy children ages 16, 13 and 10. I have a more than full time career with long hours, client events and travel.
Nigel changed all that. Nigel designs my training plans and monitors my progress with patience and empathy. Nigel seamlessly blends his years of racing wisdom with technical and scientific knowledge. He is constantly mindful of overtraining and life pressures. He is a motivator. He builds the trust required to take new steps. At any point in time, Nigel gives me the impression that I am his only client.
From that first tri in august of 2001, Nigel has taken me from a beginner to a successful Ironman Canada finisher in august 2003 without injury or burnout. Above all, he has shown me the joy of the sport. A sport that has changed my life forever and will be part of it as long.
