A year ago if you had told me I would average 32 klicks, hour after hour, over a season's worth of Ultra Marathon Cycling Assn races I would have replied; "I like the way you think, but you're crazier than I am!" As a respectable if unspectacular local randonneur cyclist, years of cycling at conversational pace had trained me into a rut. Turning 50 this year put me at the 'advantageous end' of a new UMCA age group (race calendar ranges from 12Hr races to RAAM). So no more wondering what might be, but how to get from the rut to the podium?
Word of mouth references led me to the fantastic team at NRG PT. Many thanks to Fiona for her bike fit and computerised pedal analysis ("Yick, that pancake represents my pedal stroke?"), Nigel ("Have you considered becoming a blood donor?") for LT testing, and Sylvie for a training program that fit my schedule, her timely advice at almost any hour of the day, and her unending supply of enthusiasm. Three out of four 12Hr podium finishes, from New York to Iowa, have proven to me that the NRG team really know their craft. Thank you!
