I'm pretty new to the sport of triathlon, and aerobic-based sports/training in general. I had a lot of fun racing this past summer, and was actually really happy with my results.Properly hooked, I also realized that I wanted to get better, and that I had no idea how to train properly!
It was pretty funny when I found out that Fiona was getting involved in coaching. I'd contacted Nigel after getting his info from the Endurosport website. I had no idea they were related! I'd met Fiona previously; she'd helped set me up on the bike I'd purchased. I was also aware of her background in both racing and in her field of athletic therapy, where she'd helped me with a chronic knee injury. I signed up pretty soon thereafter with NRGPT, with Fiona as my coach.
In the last two months of the (2004) race season, Fiona developed a program that helped me prepare for the Guelph 2 race, and the Toronto Waterfront 1/2 Marathon. I was very happy with my results in both, and I attribute some of that to her expertise, even in a relatively short amount of time.
With the program she's developed for me since then, I have no doubt that my performance will continue to improve, and that I'll also have the base to take on the longer distances.
I work as an Instructor with the Toronto Police Service; I've had a number of coaches in the past, in a number of different sports. Based on my personal experience, I think it's safe to say that Fiona is a natural at coaching. I feel pretty lucky to have her as mine, and look forward to training this offseason and racing next summer, knowing I'll be properly prepared.
